swinging!

BYU-Idaho's Photographics society picks a weekly photo topic. One week in the spring we chose to shoot swings. After considering a few different spots, I settled on this really old swing in the middle of a field in Rexburg. Around Halloween people claim the swing is haunted...and I'll admit I've been scared there once or twice.

I love the way that they turned out. It was really overcast so you probably think that I photoshopped the first and last photos a ton, but I just got really close and the background came out stark white. Cool huh?

The colors in each photograph have been edited.

More photos from our little shack adventure.

Now that I have a little bit more time, I figured that it would be good to post a few more pictures that I took of Emilee on our friday afternoon adventure to the random little shacks in the middle of nowhere, Idaho. The original plan was to go to this old- falling/apart house that Emilee had seen on a trip to her cousins house once upon a time...once we got there it looked like there were actually people living there. We chickened out and turned around to go visit an awesome looking bridge [pictured below] but we ran into these nasty old houses/sheds [also pictured below].

That's pretty much all I have to say...have a great day!

h is for hobby & hiking

So these definitely aren't the best pictures ever...but I wanted to post some more landscape photos & this was a pretty fun adventure on a random Saturday afternoon last spring. I had an assignment to take photos of a hobby and I chose hiking. These are of R Mountain in Rexburg, Idaho. I would love to take a sunrise hike back here once the snow disappears [& I promise to take better pictures!]

The first two are sort of fun. The first is a montage of three jumping pictures that I took of Jessica. The second has a sketch border. Enjoy!

One fish, two fish, red fish, BLUEBERRIES

Surprise: more photos of my darling sister, Sophie! She is the greatest little model, but this shoot was actually pretty hard. We drove up to our family friend's blueberry farm in New Hampshire. It was about a 3.5 hour drive & by the time we got there all she wanted to do was run around!
These pictures were taken around 2-3pm in mid July. Rows and rows of blueberries provided the perfect setting to shoot Sophie in her blue tutu! [if you're jealous check out HaloHaven - they have boas, crowns, petticoats and more!] I made the flower headband she is wearing. If you're interested in buying one of those, you should check out my Fiore Di Capelli blog!
More photos from this shoot will be posted in the future, so be sure to look for those!
Hope you're having a wonderful day!

don't go chasing waterfalls

I hardly ever take landscape photos. I love working with people and I think that personality is most of what makes a photo really fantastic. It's hard to make a tree look happy, excited, silly, or peaceful...but, I understand that it is important to be versatile and develop different skills. These photos are from a trip that I took to Mesa Falls in the early fall. There are of both the lower and upper falls in Idaho's Targhee National Forest. I ended up with the following shots. I know there are a lot but I figured you needed a break from your busy day!

magic shacks

Something has to be said for random old buildings on the side of the road! Earlier this semester my roommate, Emilee, and I took a drive around Idaho and we found a couple of fallin down shacks...almost like they were magically placed there...just for us! I'll definitely upload more photos from this shoot later on...but here is a little sample :]

Just in case you were wondering, I used Picnik to edit this post. If you don't have photoshop [or are just feeling lazy] it might be a fun way to edit your photos.

hope you're enjoying this Christmas season!

I love to see the temple...

These images were snapped of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in Rexburg, Idaho. My religion has blessed me so much with love, perspective, peace, and great knowledge. I know that the sacred events which occur within the walls of LDS temples are eternal. To find out more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints please visit mormon.org.

I chose this image to show that photos can be edited slightly or drastically. In the first image I simply adjusted the brightness/contrast. The second image's brightness/contrast is also adjusted; however, I've also adjusted the curves and added a lens correction smart filter.
